PRINCIPAL R&D ENGINEER

Chris Massengale

Principal R&D Engineer · Anaxiom Corporation

Chris Massengale is a systems engineer who builds across the full stack — from mechanical design and embedded firmware to regulatory strategy and clinical validation — with a career defined by taking complex medical devices from concept to the operating room. Beyond core engineering, Chris brings a rare design sensibility to his work — translating complex medical technology into impactful photorealistic visualizations and device animations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Prior to joining Anaxiom, Chris contributed to device programs at Medtronic and Halyard Health before spending six years at Adagio Medical, where he held a central role in the development of advanced cryoablation systems for the treatment of ventricular tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. His work spanned mechanical design, manufacturing systems, firmware, electronics, and software — with contributions encompassing novel catheter platforms, bespoke capital equipment, and real-time procedural control systems. He holds multiple pending patents from this work.

Among his most significant contributions at Adagio was driving the ground-up development of a standalone cryogenic ablation console — integrating custom hardware, ultra-high vacuum and pressure systems, closed-loop control systems, and embedded software into a laboratory-validated system that represented the cutting edge of interventional cryotherapy.

At Anaxiom, Chris leads R&D and engineering efforts across the AVOS™ system, bringing systems-level thinking and a track record of evolving complex medical device programs from concept through clinical validation.
